Come and try your hand at Warkworth Golf Club, it will suit you down to a tee!
Warkworth Golf Club is a fantastic place to have a round of golf as this unique course is situated right on the coastline of Northumberland, offering spectacular scenery while you try to perfect your swing. You are able to take in some spectacular views of Northumberland as you can observe the beach and vast sea as well as the tremendous Warkworth Castle and Carr Rocks that are situated along the coast. The overlooking castle gives a very unique feel to your round of golf making it seem that bit more royal.
Warkworth Gold Course is also a great place to see Coquet Island. This island is massively protected by the RSPB which means that no visitors are able to touch down on the island and can only observe voyeuristically from boat or shore. Coquet Island is home to thousands of Puffins, ninety percent of the Roseate Tern population – which you can witness diving into the sea to catch fish – and also there is a colony of grey seal that stay on and around the island all year round.
It will ‘putt’ you in a great mood
The course itself contains many beautiful features and obstacles that make it even better to test your ability. This course, designed by Tom Morris in 1891, now contains a wetland bird habitat thanks to a development sponsored by the Environment Agency which means that there is a large pond behind the first green, adding to the difficulty of this hole and the quirky wildlife aspect.
Warkworth Golf Course has nine greens but is an eighteen tee course throughout the summer months. It is open all year round and the winter course offers a different challenge to that of the summer one as it uses only nine tees and they are in different and more difficult locations. The fact that this course is located on the coastline means that there can be extra wind which is always a good factor to help you improve your all round game. There is also a practice area for anyone desiring to get their putting up to scratch.
Visitors are welcome on all days except Tuesday and Saturday when there are club competitions present. Warkworth Golf Club also contains a bar and restaurant for anyone wishing to eat before or
after playing and they even offer a tasty Sunday dinner for those of you needing fuel after a Sunday morning round.
Come and stay with us at Warkworth House Hotel for a luxury experience and whilst you’re here try out our local golf course to see how you fair on one of Northumberland’s most beautiful courses. The prices are very reasonable and if you like you can also get yourself a membership and take part in all the events that they have on offer.
