Have a Fantastic Christmas in Northumberland

Northumberland is well known for its beautiful countryside, spectacular coastline and plenty of things for all the family to do. Christmas is no exception in this popular part of the UK. Visit the interesting, historical market town of Alnwick during the festive period. There you will see the cobbled square all lit up with twinkling lights providing a warm welcome to Alnwick Castle.

Alnwick Winter

During December visit the Alnwick Garden to enjoy the Christmas Market, carol singers and music performed by local artists. There’s a flaming (not literally) monkey tree to climb in the gardens to show off your climbing skills. How about:-

  • Ice skating
  • The Grand Lantern Parade
  • A woodland walk
  • A Winter Wonderland Christmas Party

Morpeth offers locals and visitors a diverse range of events at Christmas. Check out the Christmas Farmers’ Markets, a Christmas Concert performed by the Ellington Colliery Band, real reindeer and live Nativity plays.

Northumberland also holds Christmas Fayres, Fetes and Fairs. The Berwick Dickensian Market is held in the town centre and is a must for people looking for last minute Christmas gifts. There are over fifty stalls along with free entertainment, mulled wine and people who dress in Dickensian costumes. Great fun for everyone!

Northumberland, a magical place at Christmas

Christmas ForestNo matter what your age, Northumberland has something for everyone. Take the family to Kielder Winter Wonderland to meet Santa Claus in his secret grotto. There’s a Santa Special event where you can hop on board a train in the Aln Valley. Get into the festive spirit watching Christmas choirs perform in Belsay. Looking for different ways to decorate your home at Christmas. Why not make a trip to Cambo where there’s a wreath and garland making workshop?

For something a little different, indulge yourself in a Festive Afternoon Tea at Le Petit Chateau in Otterburn. Feeling creative? Try making illuminated lanterns in Amble. Using felt material, cut outs and a little Christmas sparkle, you can take home a unique lantern, a great idea.

Every year Fenwick open a spectacular Christmas window display in Newcastle where people from all over the country come and visit. See below what this years window theme is:
